$1million Group 1 Carlton Draught Railway Stakes Day at Ascot Saturday November 21
The $1million Group 1 Carlton Draught Railway Stakes is the greatest race on the Perth Racing calendar.
First run in 1887, it was originally programmed to celebrate the opening of the Fremantle to Guildford railway line.
Since then the Carlton Draught Railway Stakes has grown to be one of Western Australia’s – and Australia’s – most prestigious races, attracting high quality fields including the best competitors from the eastern states.
In 2008 a record crowd of 16,000 flocked to Ascot Racecourse to witness local star Gilded Venom secure the major prize.
