The stars are set to collide again in the 2009/10 Festival of Perth Racing, when some of the best horse flesh in the land does battle at Perth Racing Headquarters, Ascot this summer.
The inaugural Festival of Perth Racing held last season was a special experience for everybody involved.
Stars of the turf, summer fashion and record crowds were the main ingredient for a successful festival.
Some of racing's biggest names including champion trainer's David Hayes and Gai Waterhouse, Melbourne Cup winning jockey's Blake Shinn, Glen Boss and Michael Rodd all competed in an eight week racing bonanza.
Who could forget one of the greatest ever races held at Ascot, with two Australian equine idols, Takeover Target and Apache Cat settling down for a two horse battle in the Winterbottom Stakes.
A superstar was discovered in the $1 million Group 1 Carlton Draught Railway Stakes, when Gilded Venom conquered the finest field of milers ever seen at Ascot.
Evergreen veteran Niconero used the Group 1 Kingston Town Stakes triumph as a spring board to feature race victories on the east coast, and a serious contender for horse of the year honours.
It was wonderful to witness the best of our local product tested against the cream of the east coast, after interstate raiders were unable to take part in the previous carnival due to EI.
Once again Perth Racing will welcome owners, trainers, jockeys and racing fans from around Australia.
The Festival of Perth Racing begins on Saturday November 14th, when the states best young horses face off in the $250,000 Group 2 Sky Channel WA Guineas 3YO (1600m), reaches a pinnacle with the $1 million Group 1 Carlton Draught Railway (1600m) and $400,000 Group 2 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m), prior to finishing with a bang, when the biggest race day on the Perth Racing calendar is held, the $400,000 Group 2 BMW Perth Cup (2400m) on New Years Day.
Whether it's the festival riches, top horses, the jockeys and trainers, the fashion, colour and glamour, or just a great day out, this year's Festival of Perth Racing will be bigger than ever!
